Retirement 

James L. Simmons

Following 39 years of dedicated IBEW service, James L. Simmons, Eleventh District International Representative, retired April 1, 2002.

Brother Simmons was appointed International Representative in September 1984. His Eleventh District assignments covered the utility, construction and government branches.

He was business manager of IBEW Utility System Council U-3 from 1979 to 1984. Brother Simmons IBEW career began in 1963 with his initiation into Local 814, Sedalia, Missouri. He was a longtime member of Local 53, Kansas City, Missouri, (from 1967 to 1980). He was assistant business manager for Local 53 from 1975 to 1978 and served on the local union apprentice, pension and negotiating committees.

Now a member of 714, Minot, North Dakota, he was also a member of Local 1532, Jamestown, North Dakota.

A member of the Elks Club and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, he looks forward to retirement and more time for golfing, flying and traveling.

The IBEW congratulates Brother Simmons on a distinguished career of service and wishes him and his wife, Mary Jane, health and happiness in retirement.

Retirement

Clyde L. Tucker

Clyde Lavern Tucker completed an IBEW career of 41 years with his retirement April 1, 2002. A Fifth District International Representative since April 1, 1992, Brother Tucker is a native of Mississippi.

Brother Tucker was business manager of IBEW Local 480 in Jackson, Mississippi, from 1971-1977 and 1980-1992. He served on the Executive Board, on the Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee, and as administrator of the pension plan and the health and welfare plan. Brother Tucker was initiated into IBEW Local 480 in 1961.

A dedicated trade unionist, Brother Tucker has served extensively throughout the labor union movement. He is a past president of the Mississippi State Building and Construction Trades Council and was a Mississippi AFL-CIO Executive Board member.

He served on the IBEW Law Committee for the 33rd and 34th IBEW Conventions. Additionally, he served on the Council on Industrial Relations.

The IBEW congratulates Brother Tucker on a distinguished career of service. Officers, staff and members wish him and his wife,

Jo Ann, a long and happy retirement.
