As more of our lives migrate online, workers that can build, maintain and now defend the telecommunications infrastructure are in high demand. But with technology moving so quickly, long term success in the industry requires commitment to lifelong learning.
The National Coalition for Telecommunications Education and Learning has been partnering with Pace University to provide instructor-led, 100-percent online certification, associate’s, bachelor’s and master’s programs to make keeping up with new technology realistic for nearly anyone’s schedule. Programs focus on mobile technology, telecom, including fiber optics and broadband, video, networking and wireless networking. This summer, NACTEL will launch its new cybersecurity program. NACTEL ,a partnership of the IBEW, the Communications Workers of America and companies including Verizon and AT&T, has trained thousands of union members since 1997. International President Edwin D. Hill said: NACTEL has been a groundbreaking online learning program that continues to offer quality technical education to current and prospective industry workers. IBEW members are eligible for discounted tuition and many employers offer reimbursement programs. Students can also apply for federal student aid.
