Electrical Brotherhood

Brian Tabbert, left, of Local 2150, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, calls this the Electrical Brotherhood photo because “we are all proud IBEW members as well as activated Air Force Reservists.” They’re all four from Milwaukee, from two IBEW locals and can tell us only they are at a “forward deployed location in Southwest Asia.” From left are Tabbert, a line mechanic; Dan Schmitz, a troubleshooter; Tom Dentice, an inside wireman, and Pat Welch, a line mechanic. Dentice is from Local 494 and works for Pieper Electric and the other three are all Local 2150 members at WE Energies.

IBEW Member Enjoys Benefit of Union Plus Mortgage Program

Apprentice electrician Dave Deluga, a member of IBEW Local 697 in Gary and Hammond, Indiana, knows first-hand that the Union Plus Mortgage program has its benefits.

Not only did Brother Deluga enjoy a convenient and affordable loan when buying his first home, but he also won a $500 gift certificate to use at a United Food and Commercial Workers-organized grocery store.

First-time buyers who close a loan through the Union Plus Mortgage program are encouraged to submit a “Welcome to Your First Home” survey and become eligible to win the monthly grocery gift certificate award.

Brother Deluga, age 22 and a fifth-year JATC apprentice, says he enjoys owning his ranch-style home in Windfield Township, Indiana, and expects to use the gift certificate to throw a birthday party for his fiance. “It was always a goal of mine to own my own home at a young age and the Union Plus Mortgage program certainly helped me make my dream a reality.”

Union Privilege, founded by the AFL-CIO in 1986, develops and manages the Union Plus consumer benefit programs. For more information, union members should call 1-800-848-6466 or visit www.unionplus.org/
