IBEWCURRENTS March 2004 IBEW Journal IBEW Member Enjoys Benefit of Union Plus Mortgage Program Apprentice electrician Dave Deluga, a member of IBEW Local 697 in Gary and Hammond, Indiana, knows first-hand that the Union Plus Mortgage program has its benefits. Not only did Brother Deluga enjoy a convenient and affordable loan when buying his first home, but he also won a $500 gift certificate to use at a United Food and Commercial Workers-organized grocery store. First-time buyers who close a loan through the Union Plus Mortgage program are encouraged to submit a “Welcome to Your First Home” survey and become eligible to win the monthly grocery gift certificate award. Brother Deluga, age 22 and a fifth-year JATC apprentice, says he enjoys owning his ranch-style home in Windfield Township, Indiana, and expects to use the gift certificate to throw a birthday party for his fiance. “It was always a goal of mine to own my own home at a young age and the Union Plus Mortgage program certainly helped me make my dream a reality.” Union Privilege, founded by the AFL-CIO in 1986, develops and manages
the Union Plus consumer benefit programs. For more information,
