Miss USA's Proud IBEW Father

Larry Krueger, IBEW Local 520, Austin, Texas, is the father of reigning Miss USA 2001. Brother Krueger is a journeyman inside wireman working for Dean Johnston Inc.

Kandace Krueger, 24, was crowned March 2 in Gary, Indiana, in the nationally televised show hosted by William Shatner.

She will next represent the United States in the Miss Universe pageant in Puerto Rico on May 11.

Kandace was crowned Miss Texas last July in Lubbock and was also Miss Austin. A senior at Texas A&M University, Kandace is a journalism student. Her father credits an early interest in sports for her aspiration to a sports broadcasting career.

"When Kandace was little she would sit next to me while I watched football and baseball and ask a lot of questions," Brother Krueger said.

Kandace will spend the next 12 months as a goodwill ambassador, educating young women about the importance of early detection of breast cancer and working with organizations to raise money for treatment and research.
